About Us

We are a traditional, family run business. Formed by my wife Rosie and I, servicing chimneys throughout the Cotswold's, the Five Valleys, Gloucestershire, and the Forest of Dean.

We use both traditional, and the latest rotary power sweeping techniques to clean a wide range of flues and chimneys.

My father has been a local coal merchant for over 30 years, and can help with any fuel requirements you may have as well.

As members of The Chimney Sweep Academy, we have the backing of a national trade association, and are able to provide certification for your home insurance for any completed sweeps.

We are fully committed to providing a fantastic service and make every effort to ensure that no mess is created or left behind during, or upon completion of sweeping your chimney.

- - Stove Servicing - Fire rope replacement, glass cleaning, patching up any cracks with fire cement, and general cleaning of your multi-fuel stove or woodburners. We also have the capacity to order parts from a supplier if required.

FAQ'S

Why do I need to have my chimney swept?
Chimneys need to allow for the free passage of dangerous gasses. Regular cleaning will remove soot and creosote, helping prevent dangerous chimney fires. Cleaning will increase the efficiency of some appliances. Bird nests, cobwebs and other blockages will be removed.
How often does my chimney need sweeping?
The sweeping frequencies below are for guidance. Frequency will depend on a number of factors including: Type of fuel, appliance used, duration of use, moisture content of wood fuel, type of chimney.
SMOKELESS FUEL : AT LEAST ONCE A YEAR
WOOD : QUARTERLY WHEN IN USE
BITUMINOUS COAL : TWICE A YEAR WHEN IN USE
OIL : ONCE A YEAR
GAS : ONCE A YEAR
What is the best time of year for sweeping?
We would recommend getting your chimney swept after you have finished using it in the spring or summer months as the demand for sweeping peaks when the weather turns approaching Autumn and Winter which can lead to a longer wait for a Sweep to be available.

For those of you who require a twice yearly visit we would recommend getting your mid-season sweep done in January/February.

How long does it take?
A sweep usually takes 40 - 60 minutes plus, depending on the type of appliance and deposits removed.
Does it make mess?
Generally, no, and you shouldn't know we've visited, we often leave your fireplace cleaner that when we arrived. There are the rare occasions whereby we may encounter excessive soot build up within the chimney, poorly installed appliances or stubborn bird nest build ups. Although we will always do our very best to make sure all dust is contained to the best of our abilities.
What should I do to prepare for the sweep’s visit?
In general, we will need a clear passage to the chimney and adequate space to work in. Clear ornaments from the hearth and perhaps from the mantelpiece. We would kindly ask that you please clear your appliance of any cinders, ash and other items in the fire-bed.
Do we offer certificated Sweeps?
As a member of The Chimney Sweep Academy, we are part of a national trade association and can issue industry standard certification. We may be required to issue a warning notice if your appliance is not safe to use.
Are we insured?
Yes, we have full liability insurance up to £5 million.
